Can you afford to homestead?
You can't afford not to.
1. Rose told me there is land on her street for 3000 dollars an acre. (Note, this is just one street. There are likely infinitely more.)
That's 3 month's rent for most people, or 2 family vacations. Small price to pay, to never have to pay rent again.
2. Taxes on that would be like 15 dollars a year, until improvements are made to increase the value. I paid 50 dollars a year in taxes for my land which was 6 acres, until it went up to 500 a year after improvements and home.
3. It would be a place you could come and park a trailer if you got evicted from your apartment, or the rents doubled, or the laws in your area became so oppressive that God compelled you to leave.
4. Many properties have the option for water, electricity and internet hookup.
5. There are many jobs you could work at halftime, to generate income for utilities, and other expenses. But, at least you wouldn't have a mortgage or be at the mercy of landlords who raise rent.
6. Think about how much your new car payment is, or how many times your landlord raised rent, or how many times you've had to move and how much that cost you. Think about how much you already pay in utilities, or how much godlessness or neighborlessness you live around.
So, anybody can do this, unless you have absolutely no income at all.
God is telling me the window is closing and not many more will accept his offer. So, I wont be talking much more about this.
Just know that times are coming where we will have to make hard choices, if we choose to stay in our current situation.
It happened to me.
I should have got out of my mortgage 20 years ago when I had the chance. I didn't listen. And what would have been easy for me to do back then,
was made 10 times harder when God led me to do it on less than half the income.
