Coke Bottles are transforming Manila's rural areas. These plastic bottles are now being viewed as a green, cheap and sustainable way to light homes. In rural Manila where homes are often built so close to each other that they have no windows or natural light these bottles are a God send. With electricity unaffordable or unavailable for many families they often have to work, do chores, and eat in near darkness. Now there is light. Coke bottles are the major component of an innovation called the "Solar Bottle Bulb." And these bottles are popping out of roofs and illuminating the lives of many Filipino's.
