During the early planning stages for the game jam, me and the dev team talked about how we wanted to go about Remembrance of Past Prayers. When I learned that there would be three stages, with a second loop unlocked like in arcade-style shmups, I figured I'd try and make second loop variants for each stage theme, for at least two very good reasons. The first was that this would give experienced players a neat bonus for going through harder versions of the same stages. The second was that it allowed me to cover these not-as-well-known songs again, and I'll gladly take any excuse I can get to mess around with them.

As for this song itself, the plan I had for the Stage 1 themes was to mix them with some more well-known themes, and for Reimu's song I figured I'd incorporate some of Maiden's Capriccio in it for good measure.
