QAnon is a conspiracy movement centered on claims made by an anonymous individual, known by the name "Q".

“Q” claimed that a cabal of Satanic global elites and cannibalistic pedophiles operate a worldwide sex trafficking ring.

“Q” was allegedly a high-level government official with special “Q clearance”. Q clearance allowed access to highly classified information involving the Trump administration and its opponents in the United States.

The QAnon conspiracy originated on the website, 4Chan, in October 2017 via an anonymous series of posts. Since then, the conspiracy theory has spread globally.

Herein, we discuss the origins of QAnon, why and how it spread so rapidly, the claims of the movement, the religious and cult-like aspects of the phenomenon, and attempt to figure out who “Q” was.
