The Rwandan genocide occurred between 7th April and 15th July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War.
During this period of around 100 days, members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group, as well as some moderate Hutu and Twa, were slaughtered by armed militias.
The most widely accepted scholarly estimates are around 500,000 to 800,000 Tutsi deaths.

The Rwandan Genocide saw the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Tutsi by Hutu militias. The genocide was committed not only by state backed militias but by ordinary people.
In this video we will look into the causes of the genocide and just how ordinary people could betray their neighbours. We will look at the historical reasons for the ethnic divides that led to violence.
