Shazia Hobbs is an ex-Muslim author who was herself a victim of forced marriage, domestic abuse, and regular death threats. She speaks out tirelessly about the dangers of crimes within the Muslim community, particularly Female Genital Mutilation, in an attempt to stand up for the rights of Muslim women and children.

Recently Sadiq Khan read out her tweet criticising his inaction on FGM, holding it up as an example of hate speech. I sat down with Shazia to get to the bottom of exactly what she believes, and why she will continue to stand up for abused women and girls in Muslim communities.
