It's incredible that something like this is happening in one of the most important elections in recent memory.

I suppose the AFP or court of disputed returns should hear a case against the AEC.

The name under the boxes should say "Independents". However, I think these calls were somewhat misleading in that no one asked the operators, "There are candidates below the line but the corresponding box above the line doesn't have a party name under it. Will it go to them anyway?" Calling them blank columns etc. is a pretty easy way to get the operator to say they should probably not number it. But I do agree that the paper is rigged against independents. Hopefully people voting for the freedom candidates will number 12 boxes.
