Cash App / Venmo / PayPal: Not Adult Friendly! Alternatives for Camgirls, Pornstars
For those looking to get into the adult industry, it can be very tempting to use payment apps such as Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, ect. Unfortunately, these apps are not adult-friendly. Even if you're using a merchant account instead of a personal account, it still doesn't work.
This is because the adult industry is a high-risk vertical. That means that we have a high chargeback rate (where transactions are reversed due to fraud, husbands lying to their wives ("I didn't buy that!), ect.). Chargebacks aren't profitable to companies like Venmo or PayPal. Therefore, they don't cater to our industry. This is also why adult-friendly payment processors charge a large percentage; to offset the cost of chargebacks.
As tempting as it is to get 100% of the money, you will eventually get banned. It might not be today and you might actually fly under the radar for a while, but you will eventually get banned. And unfortunately, once banned, you won't be able to use the service for your own personal sending or receiving of funds.
It doesn't matter if someone's wife catches their husband buying porn and they're covering their tracks, or you become a victim of the ThotAudit that's going around (FYI: Reporting camgirls / premium Snapchat girls / indie pornstars to the payment apps is easier than reporting them to the IRS) or the app just catches on to your transactions. It will eventually happen.
There are some high paying platforms for models (IndieBill, Unblur, Erotifix) that pay out 85% and cover chargebacks. That is actually an incredible bargain, all things considered. If you jumped into CCBill or another payment processor, you'd be getting charged points, an upfront cost and you'd be dealing with chargebacks.
If you're interested in receiving payments from clip sales and camming from PayPal, there are some sites that support PayPal payouts. They can do this because they're only using it for payouts and there's no chargeback risk on payouts. They can't use PayPal for customer transactions though, as that's where the high-risk is at.
If you're interested in PayPal payouts, we've got a directory of sites here: https://webcamstartup.com/paypal/
The other thing about these payment apps is that the people using them are not verified. There's a lot of catfish around, and these catfish use these sites for payments. All the camming sites and clip sites are required to verify their models to stay compliant with age verification laws (2257 Compliance). Because of this, everyone on those sites are verified and you know they're not a catfish.
On the flip-side of scamming, there's a lot of malicious customers that know they can get free content, simply by charging back / reporting a model to PayPal, Venmo, ect. By initiating a chargeback, they get their money back, they get free content or services, and you not only get charged-back, but the payment is reversed and any funds in the account might also get frozen.
