This episode clearly sets up 2 parent side stories.
The man is for sure Carole father, or maybe uncle / older brother.
He provably could not find Carole after the war on earth and has now managed to locate her after she became famous on tv.
As soon as he sees her, he is not shocked that he is meeting famous singer but some other kind shock.
he then later immediately protects the girls from evil thugs, classic father scene.
And shortly after his introduction we get a MOTHER SCENE where Tuesday mother is running for president. This even more on a narrative perspective tell us that is gonna be 2 parent stories. Would be strange if its just Tuesday that gets a parent story, as well as the rich super powerful mother is the juxtaposition of the poor veteran father.
Especially as he probably really loves Carole and would do anything for her, while Tuesday mother is purely using her as a tool, so they are likely the counter opposite in personality as well.
At least Evil Mother makes more sense now she is gonna become president so her being controlling is at least motivated.
Still do...her daughter being a famous pop star sounds like a good thing, and she should know Tuesday is the most innocent girl ever so its no danger of her doing the bad kind of fame.
In the end Of course Gus is never ever gonna take the easy route so now their are back to gain grassroots movement yet again with some crazy axe producer.
