Here is my latest model bus review and unboxing video to come from me and this one is another Exclusive First Editions Mercedes Benz Plaxton Beaver model minibus and this one is in the First Capital Citybus colours with the narrow destination blind. The model is nice overall but I would like to see this model bus tooling get an upgrade with wing mirrors and glazed headlights to modernise it up to newer standards.
These minibuses were often nicknamed as "Breadvans" in the 1980's and 1990's due to being derived from a Mercedes van chassis. This one is represented as 567 and registered as F267RHK and is on Route 212 to Walthamstow. I believe this model would be based on the 1987/1988 vehicle and would have been the Reeve-Burgess Beaver bodywork although Plaxton took over the Reeve Burgess bus builder business in 1990 hence that both the Beaver and Pointer bodywork on both the minibuses and the Dennis Darts were mostly branded as Plaxton.
Plaxton is still on the go today although they main market is building coaches and are now owned by the Alexander-Dennis Group since 2004. The Plaxton factory still builds buses at its factory at Scarborough and on behalf of Alexander-Dennis, they even build some of the ADL Enviro 200 and Enviro 400 buses at they plant as well but that's another story.
Sticking to topic and regarding this model bus. For its age, the model bus is great for what it has and only a few upgrades to the model are needed to bring it up to todays standards.
