Prefecture March of Hokkaido (北海道) - “Hikari Afurete” (光あふれて)

Hokkaido is an island situated in northern Japan; she is the second-largest island in that country. She acts as her own region and prefecture, which in turn is split into 14 subprefectures, one of them having a territorial dispute with the southern Kuril Islands, which are currently under Russian administration. Like most prefectures in Japan, she has her own regional song.

Her prefecture march, “Hikari Afurete”, was adopted along with 2 other songs [the “home song” “Mukashi no mukashi” (むかしのむかし) and the Dōmin ondo (a kind of Japanese folk music) “Hokkai bayashi” (北海ばやし)] in 1966 as the “Songs of the People of Hokkaido Prefecture”.
