This chapter concludes the epistle with exhortations concerning the eldership and the general attitude of submission and obedience for all. 1 Peter 5:1, the need for adequate leadership; 1 Peter 5:2, suffer in the name of Christ to be a spiritual leader for God's children; 1 Peter 5:3, this charge is not to be tyrannical and possessive; 1 Peter 5:4, an Elder's glory awaits in heaven by Jesus Christ's own hand; 1 Peter 5:5-7, defer with humility to church Elders, cast your anxieties upon Christ; 1 Peter 5:7-8, be of a sober mind to watch carefully for Satan's influence in the midst, and do not yield to him; 1 Peter 5:10, God will grace you with the strength to rebuke Satan; 1 Peter 5:11, the Christian may safely rest his case in God; 1 Peter 5:12, salutations to the receivers of this epistle; 1 Peter 5:13, salutations from Rome to the receivers; 1 Peter 5:14, embrace one another in Christ's name.
