Faith is not hope. If all you are living on is a hope that has no substance, you lack faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It possesses realness. The hope one will graduate after years of study is based on faith in all the work one has done. If all you have is hope without substance you are likely to fail. Does this mean our salvation is based on works, surely no. But this is why we need the church. To have faith in Christ without works is to omit the church. The church we have tells us the faith we have.
