Previous winter sports and cycling gloves I have tried have been on the chunky side, well-padded and substantial, offering good protection at the expense of flexibility. These new Thermal gloves from Yobenki are very different.
Various sizes are available and I selected XL which were priced at £13.99 before discounts. The gloves arrived simply but attractively presented in a branded ziplock storage bag.
The gloves are lighter in weight than many other sporting winter gloves I have worn before and lack the heavy-duty padding but the payoff is that they are comfortable, flexible and not restricted in any way. Of course, they are not free of all protection, there are large silicone anti-slip pads across the palms, and reinforcement around the elasticated wrists. There are touchscreen-friendly tips on the thumb and forefinger and this coupled with the smooth fit makes them easy to use with a smartphone or tablet. There is a small quick-release clip to hold the gloves together for storage and to prevent loss.
As regards size, I have average to large hands and so selected XL size. They proved to be a perfect fit although any tighter and they would have been too small. I would suggest studying the official fitting guide and if in doubt buy a size up from normal.
S ( Palm Circumference 17-19 cm
M ( Palm Circumference 19-21 cm)
L ( Palm Circumference 21-23 cm)
XL ( Palm Circumference23-25 cm)
The gloves are far stronger than they appear at first and after a couple of weeks of daily use, they are still pristine. They are water-resistant but not waterproof so try not to get them too wet. That said, they need to be treated with care when washing and a warm water hand wash only is recommended followed by simple air drying.
So there it is. If you need some robust, decent quality lightweight sporting gloves then these could be what you need. I will use them when on my bike and also probably when running later in the season when the air starts to cool. Whatever you use them for, I doubt you will be disappointed.
