McLachlan is a long time Australian actor who's starred on Neighbours, the Rocky Horror show and more.
He's won several logies, including the Gold Logie, Australia's top award for media personality.
He's been accused of a series of sexual offenses including sexual assault, harassment and more, while working on the Rocky Horror Show in 2014.
I summarise the full issue and provide my thoughts on it, essentially I think the ABC and Fairfax have failed in their duty as journalistic media companies.
They printed sensational claims and focused on those claims rather than trying to find the objective truth.
Craig McLachlan is now suing both the ABC and Fairfax for defamation and they really do deserve it, they should have been more thoughtful with their reporting.
This is basic ethical journalism, you don’t publish blatantly defamatory claims without evidence or focusing on the fact that they are just claims.
Instead they just printed the stories and are now getting sued for defamation as you would expect.
This is exactly the kind of backlash you would expect to hit the #metoo movement.
I know this one is a little dry but I figured most people watching this video probably wouldn’t be up to speed on the story.
