Amelia is somewhat amused by an old episode from Star Trek: The Next Generation, where they use forcing people to agree with things they know to be false as a means of torture.
Amelia's conclusion is that the media and their handlers are torturing the population by demanding that they agree that a man is a woman, there are no races but white people exist and are evil, and any other nonsense.
Basically, Amelia thinks you are receiving home-delivered psychological torture. Add on the hard living conditions, with working schedules for many people in precarious jobs which make it difficul to sleep properly and you also have sleep deprivation into the mix.
