The following is going to be some really quick information about why GMO foods are likely posing a massive health risk to us and how we can go about avoiding them.
For those of you who may not know, GMO stands for genetically modified organism meaning it has been modified in a lab. When it comes to GMO crops, one of the reasons these plants have been genetically modified is so they can withstand extremely high amounts of herbicides that would otherwise kill normal non GMO plants.
The most common and widely used of herbicides is called Roundup which is found in almost all of the non-organic foods we eat today.
Recently, the company who owns roundup has paid out over 12 billions of dollars in cancer lawsuits mostly thanks to an ingredient within roundup known as Glyphosate.
Asides from giving the farmers who spray it and the people who eat it cancer, loads of studies have shown that Glyphosate is extremely detrimental to our gut health thanks to the fact that it kills our good gut bacteria while somehow allowing the bad bacteria to flourish.
