Welcome, everybody, to the sequel to my recently concluded Let’s Play of Baldur’s Gate: Baldur’s Gate II Shadows of Amn. In this series, we will be following Toby and our merry band of adventurers into the second game. Unlike Baldur’s Gate 1 which I played through Nashkel, I have never even touched this game beyond a little bit in the opening area where I messed around a little to ensure it worked on my system a few years back.
That said, I have watched a couple of Let’s Plays of the game so I may recognize a few plot points from those LPs. Just something to bear in mind.
This series will be in much the same format as the old BG1 series. I will be roleplaying it to a degree while also trying to experience as much of the content as possible.
But keep in mind that while Toby is still our favorite goody-goody thief from the last game, he’s not quite as chipper and cheerful as he was when we left Candlekeep. Toby is much more the hardened warrior and, due to events at the end of the last game and the start of this one, he has some trust issues with strangers. So that’s going to be playing into his reactions to certain people in this game. He won’t be stabbing random strangers or anything but Toby isn’t nearly so likely to trust that a random person he meets on the street has his best interests at heart as he used to be.
I will also be continuing on with Toby’s Journal entries from the last game where I have him write a bit of his thoughts on the events in the story to give you an idea of how he views things. I think it went pretty well for the first game so we’ll be doing the same here.
As far as mods go, I do have some of the modifications from the BG2 Tweaks Anthology installed but that’s basically it for mods. This playthrough is largely vanilla so no extra companions or anything like..
