🇫🇷🎬 WATCH: French 'no-go zone' scene from «The Stronghold»
👮🏼♀️ Set in the city of Marseille (southern France) in 2012 , «The Stronghold» follow 3 cops from the Anti-Crime Unit (BAC) trying to do their job.
🎥 Stuck between increasingly dangerous streets and an uncaring hierarchy, the movie does an excellent job at capturing the new face of lawless crime in France.
🔥This is a movie which has generated heated debates in France. Based on true events, it prompted political siding of both critics and viewers, both police union and BLM equivalents. Depending on opinions, the movie was either praised for its honest depiction of lawlessness in some urban zones or reviled as a racist caricature of same areas.
👉🏻 So is it an honest depiction? The director Cédric Jimenez grew up in Marseille's very same northern precincts. The movie was shot there, and most of the crowds and extras are actually living there.
