John Herbert Dillinger 1903 -1934) was an American gangster during the Great Depression era, he was the leader of the Dillinger Gang,
the gang was tied to robbubg of 4 police stations and24 banks. Dillinger was incaserated many times and escaped custoty n two occasions. although dillenger was charged with the murder of a east chicago police officer he was not convicted of the homicide

After evading police in four states for almost a year, Dillinger was wounded and went to his father's home to recover. He returned to Chicago in July 1934 and sought refuge in a whore house owned by Ana Cumpănaș, who would rat him out to the authorities on his whereabouts. On July 22, 1934, local and federal law-enforcement officers closed in on the Biograph Theater. When Bureau of Investiogation agents moved in to arrest Dillinger as he exited the theater, he tried to escape but was shot in the back and killed , the courts would later rule this as a justifiable homicid
