This is the first in our 4 part series discussing General Clinton's invasion of New Jersey in June 1780. This episode accounts the British crossing and the next mornings battle between Hessian, Loyalist troops and the the Elizabethtown Militia. We highlight the Winans family, Rev. James Caldwell and the notorious Cornelious Hetfield Jr.
You will notice we don't supply a synopsis of casualties as the only information we have found combines the dead, injured and captured with the Battle of Connecticut Farms later that afternoon.
