This is my first video here on bitchute utilizing my brand new Boss Katana Artist amplifier, which has garnered many positive reviews for achieving a tube-like sound with a solid state operating system. I'll let you be the judge, of course, but in my 43 years of tone-searching, this is the closest I've ever come to that elusive Marshall stack tone that is so much a part of the rock music that I grew up and rocked out with in the '70s.
One of the bands that was so much a part of my youth was KISS, and when I saw them live in 1976 in Miami, FL, it was a transcendent experience. Most of my fellow concert attendees spent the entire show standing on the seats, sweating, stomping, singing and screaming -- it was awesome!
When I first discovered how good my new amp sounded, and how close I could get to Ace's tone, I decided to re-learn the entire KISS Alive! album, cover to cover, with the aid of online note-for-note tablature. When I first started playing guitar in 1977, I earned a lot of my chops from playing along with that LP, and in my very first band, we covered quite a few KISS numbers, too, so this was a labor of love, really, because naturally I got a lot of stuff wrong trying to figure it out just by ears alone. It took me four days and I had a blast.
This video was shot in my brother's garage, which he converted into a "Man-Cave" which are quite ubiquitous here in TX. On my right is my older brother Carl sporting shades, and on my left, dancing around with the gin bottle, is my younger brother Kurt.
