Polish media say two people were killed in an explosion in the village of Przewodow in Poland, about six kilometers from the Ukrainian border, after Russian missiles aimed at Ukraine crossed the Polish border just north of the Ukrainian city of Lviv. The explosion happened around 14:40 Icelandic time on November 15.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed at 11 pm on November 15 that the missile was indeed Russian. Andzej Duda, the president of Poland, says that it has not been proven who fired the rocket. Also, US President Joe Bide has said that it is unlikely that Russia fired at Poland, and Ludivine Dedonder, Minister of Defense of Belgium, believes that it is more likely that Ukraine's air defense system shot down a Russian missile with these consequences.
The ambassadors of all member states of the alliance are meeting before noon today, November 16, at the level of the North Atlantic Council, NATO's highest organization, to discuss yesterday's events.
The journalist of the Polish media ZET Radio, who is said to have been the first to report the missiles, claims that they were not aimed at Polish territory but at Ukrainian territory. They found their way into Polish land after the Ukrainian air defense system shot them down.
