Mary Skelter 2 - Playthrough Part 56 (Ending)
Reached the point in Mary Skelter 2 where all the mysteries are revealed and it's easy to say that I'm not happy with the entire plot of this game. As expected the mysterious Nightmare turned out to be Alice, who turned into one after thinking that she killed Jack in Blood Skelter. This begs the question of how the hell that happened given that she shouldn't have had her senses in that form. Not only that but upon learning that Jack is alive Nightmare Alice created the clone using a core. Then both Nightmare Jack and Alice fused into the final boss. Upon defeating them you are "treated" to a death scene of every character in your party bar Otsuu and Little Mermaid, because another Nightmare which is invincible started chasing them and now without Jack they can't really put up much of a fight. I wondered how Otsuu, who is generally quite thick figured all that out, but then the game gives you another twist and it turns out that Otsuu was a Nightmare... from the future. She wanted to alter the death of Little Mermaid from the first game and used the power of another core to turn back time, turn herself into a Blood Maiden and fucking up everything in the process. Essentially she was a horny Machiavellian villain. At least Little Mermaid decided to fix the timeline and sacrifice herself to restore the events of the original game.
Despite the atrocious story and the nearly unrecognisable characters I would still recommend Mary Skelter 2 on the Switch thanks to its great dungeon crawling mechanics and the fact that it also contains the first game. The dungeons in the "sequel" are better designed, but apparently they did the same for MS1. The side quests are mostly meaningless and provide very few good rewards and extra character interactions, so feel free to not do them. My advice would be to play Mary Skelter and ignore part 2. I'm very worried about the recently revealed Mary Skelter Finale considering that somehow Otsuu is back again and if MS2 is anything to go by the cores have such vast magical power that there are no rules and everything is possible.
