An explanation of how we can estimate differences by using compatible numbers, or place values to round. We learn that the word "about" is a clue word for us to estimate, and "how many more" is a clue for us to subtract. We compare the difference of our estimates when we use compatible numbers or place values to round. We also compare the difference of rounding to the tens place versus rounding to the hundreds place to get an estimate. We use a table with information to estimate differences.
