"A sheriff's deputy in Davidson County, North Carolina, delivered a powerful speech in defense of the Second Amendment Tuesday, before the county's Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to declare the county a Second Amendment sanctuary as the country watches Virginia's Democrat-controlled legislature's plans to impose a series of gun control measures."
"Davidson County Sheriff's Deputy Tripp Kester told the Davidson Board of Commissioners this week that he supported a Second Amendment resolution to protect gun rights and that he 'swore an oath' to protect the United States Constitution. He added that as a law enforcement officer, he would not enforce any law infringing upon the right to bear arms...The pro-gun rights resolution, introduced by Commissioner Zak Crotts, was passed by the board unanimously and follows similar resolutions adopted in Virginia and Kentucky, which state that no law officer will infringe on the citizens right to keep and bear arms. Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions have been adopted in more than 100 Virginia counties as the Democratic majority in Richmond is set to pass monumental anti-gun legislation."
"150 residents showed up to support the resolution, which was passed unanimously by the Board, made up of seven Republicans...Counties in several other states including Kentucky and Virginia have united against gun-control measures from state legislatures. In Virginia, roughly 100 counties have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries in response to Governor Ralph Northam’s push for stricter gun laws, including universal background checks and a 'red-flag-law' that would allow state authorities to seize firearms from citizens."
"As more people came to the podium to speak, they reiterated the same points, namely reading the text of the Second Amendment. As each speaker finished, members of the crowd spoke the last line of the amendment together: 'Shall not be infringed.'"
"the resolution holds no legislative power based on the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution that establishes federal law as taking precedence over any state or local law."
"For all those asking about the Police Officers who stand by their oath, here is Deputy Tripp Kester’s speech in Davidson County NC"
"Sheriff: I WILL NOT ENFORCE ANY UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAW."
"North Carolina Sheriff Capt. Tripp Kester spoke in support of making his county a Second Amendment 'sanctuary city,' saying that he would not 'enforce an unconstitutional law' targeting gun rights."
