On July 2, 2022, ground tests (taxiing and jogging) of the first flight prototype of the advanced South Korean multirole fighter KF-21 Boramae (serial and flight number "001") began at the flight test station of the South Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) plant in Sachon. The first flight of the KF-21 Boramae is scheduled for late July 2022. The South Korean Air Force is expected to have 40 fighters of this type in 2028 and 140 aircraft in 2032. South Korea also expects to export the aircraft extensively.
