Technical specifications:
There is a choice of three engines for the BMW 6 Series Convertible, all of them more than 300 hp, the top speed limited to 250 km / h and principally combined with an eight-speed automatic. In addition to the standard rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive is also optionally available. The entry-level engine is a three-liter, six-cylinder biturbo gasoline engine with 320 PS (640i), which already offers the dynamism that is befitting of its standing and can sprint from zero to 100 km / h in just 5.5 seconds. The 650i with its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and 450 hp is even a tad faster. It already reaches country road speed in 4.6 seconds, which is only a few tenths of a second slower than the particularly sporty M6 variant of the open-top two-door. Since driving a convertible is generally more about cruising than heating, the third representative of the engine range is perhaps the most sensible alternative for the BMW 6 Series Convertible. The three-liter six-cylinder of the 640d provides 313 hp, which is more than sufficient, almost Balancing the two-ton heavyweight to 100 km / h in 5.5 seconds and hardly lagging behind the sprint time of the 640i. The EU consumption is kept within reasonable limits given the performance. Under laboratory conditions, the diesel is content with 5.6 to 5.8 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (CO2: 149–153 g / km), the six-cylinder petrol engine with 7.7 to 7.9 liters (CO2: 179–184 g / km) and the eight-cylinder with 8.9 to 9.1 liters (CO2: 208–213 g / km). By the way: the optional all-wheel drive increases fuel consumption by around half a liter (0.2 liters for the 650i), but provides one to two tenths of a second better acceleration values because the better traction means the increased weight (plus 50 to 70 kg) more than compensated.
