MILFORD, CT — The operators of the Connecticut Post Mall said Thursday that they are reviewing its policies in light of several major mass brawls that occurred inside the 1201 Boston Post Road mall late Wednesday that resulted in the complex closing early.
Two juveniles were arrested. Police said that there were numerous brawls involving 1o to 12 teens that occurred inside the mall. A brawl also occured at the The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Manchester that involved 200 people and also led to that mall closing early on Wednesday too. Several arrests were made in the Manchester mall brawl.
In a statement Thursday, the Connecticut Post Mall said "we closed the property early as a precautionary measure due to the large number of unattended juvenile traffic disrupting Connecticut Post Mall's family-oriented business environment. Because the safety and security of our shoppers, employees and retailers is our top priority, we worked closely and in full cooperation with Milford PD to clear mall common areas.
Milford Police said Wednesday that the crowd of unsupervised teens fighting got to be too much to control and the decision to close the mall was made around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police say groups of 10 to 12 teens were fighting with one another at multiple times and once police were able to break up one major fight, then another popped up quickly. Police said there were numerous fights in several locations inside the mall.
