In this video exploration, we look at Dambe, boxing styles associated with the Hausa peoples of West Africa, and La Lutte, sometimes called Senegalese Wrestling, wrestling styles associated with the Serer people. We look at a variety of matches and try to see what they do and pose some questions. For those of you who know these styles or have trained or practiced these styles, please leave a comment and answer our questions. In Dambe, can you not extend your shield hand (the lead hand) or must it always be out? In La Lutte, does your back have to hit the ground for it to count or are you considered taken down when two of your limbs hit the ground?
