In this episode we discuss the recent intensification of the disputes between the #Visegrad Group and the #European Union. The Visegrad group is a partnership of four Central European states: #Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Poland.
Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary, has released a letter directed to the former Prime Minister of Slovakia arguing that the Visegrad Group need to be an alternative centre of power within the European Union, in competition with the current two main axis of power, France and Germany. He believes this is necessary because of "discrimination" against Central Europe by the European. Central and East Europeans get less financial support per person than Western member states, and they are forced into cultural and ideological programs that they do not support. On #migration resettlement, on LGBT ideological issues, on finance, and even on foreign policy, the EU and the Visegrad Group regularly find themselves at odds with each other.
We also take a look at Poland which has been declared the most "homophobic" country in the EU for the second year in a row.
If the Visegrad group do not wish to be forced into adopting wholesale Western liberalism, then they must band together. This in turn will embolden right-wing illiberals in the West of Europe and will give Europe a chance of survival.
