Raw Cannabis for Healing with Dr. Allan Frankel
Dr. Allan I. Frankel is an expert on Medical Cannabis. He lives in Playa Vista, California.
“Tell folks about your sweatshirt,” says Patrick. Dr. Frankel is wearing a shirt honoring William Brooke O’Shaughnessy, the Irish doctor who introduced the U.S. to the medical use of cannabis in 1850.
Cannabis was the most common medicine from 1850 to 1920, when Rockefeller medicine took over from traditional medicine, and marijuana was made illegal in the 1930s.
What’s the difference between THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid)? And what’s the difference between CBD (cannabidiol) and CBDA (cannabidiolic acid)?
Dr. Frankel has been studying cannabis for a long time. “You’d think I’d get bored with it by now, but it’s been 15 years,” he comments.
How long has the cannabis plant existed? How long has the endocannabinoid system been in the human body? Even fish have endocannabinoid systems and receptors.
When THCA is heated, it becomes THC. THC is what’s called “wacky tobacky,” but THCA won’t get you high.
THC is psychoactive, while the healing properties of cannabis concentrate in the raw plant form of THCA.
What about taking THC in capsule form? Dr. Frankel is not a fan of capsules: “The only thing I know that’s as good as the original plant is the original plant.”
George writes in, “What kind of seeds should I get?”
“Why is CBD the rage?”, asks Patrick. “There’s more money in it,” replies Dr. Frankel. “I’m just not an isolate guy.” He prefers whole-plant CBD oil, the same as he does for THCA.
People complain about whole-plant CBD oil being gummy and sticky. “That’s exactly what it’s supposed to be.”
THCA and CBD oil combined are effective for autism and seizures.
Dr. Frankel uses homeopathic doses of psilocybin. “Is that legal?”, asks Patrick. “I have to be careful because I can’t write prescriptions for ir,” is the reply.
“Everything is legal in Oregon except raising a cow,” jokes Patrick.
“In Washington, Colorado, and Oregon, nobody will give a […] about cannabis,” says Dr. Frankel.
Dr. Frankel prefers baby doses of psilocybin because there’s a big change in perception.
Beverly writes in whether or not cannabis is difficult to grow.
Marvin writes in, “Would cannabis be good for sleep?”
What part of the cannabis plant lowers cortisol?
