Noted director Fritz Lang, given the chance to direct The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari(1920) instead decided to introduce audiences to this early adventure series, full of action, travel, romantic triangles, drama and a sinister "League" of criminals (themes the director would return to on many occasions). The 56 minute runtime just seems to fly by...

This film was considered a "lost" film until prints were rediscovered in the early 1970's, and the full restoration was at last available in 1978. Silent, B&W.
