Back in the days of SHOCK Theater (and its many variations, including my home town's Scream Theater with Ashley Ghastly), our ghoulish late-night movie hosts often got rolling in the Summer with low-rent giant monsters and cheesy sci-fi before transitioning into classic horror for the run-up to Hallowe'en.

Here's a kaiju flick from Japan, but not Toho (Godzilla) or Daiei (Gamera) studios. Kind of a cross between the British GORGO and Toho's original RODAN. This film was released in 1967, in-between GODZILLA VS THE SEA MONSTER and SON OF GODZILLA... Two weaker entries in the Godzilla series. GAPPA was released directly to television in the US.
