Hey kids (of all ages), it's Saturday Morning Cartoon time again! Hallowe'en-style!!!

Middle-aged, toothless, and one-eyed. Borderline illiterate, given to inarticulate, semi-obscene muttering. Tattooed. Constant smoker. Dependent on a performance-enhancing substance. Prone to solving most problems with swift and blinding violence! This was the hero to generations of American children who did NOT grow-up to be delicate little Snowflakes!

The ornery sailor-man savagely beat the living hell out of anyone who got in his way through 231 theatrical cartoons from 1933 into 1957. Even the dead were not safe from his spinach-fueled wrath, as we see in this collection of four classic shorts selected for the season. The last one included here also happens to be the last entry in Popeye's Fleischer/Famous series. But he was back in short-order with a new series commissioned by King Features for the television market.
