Having a light does not mean you should turn it on. Darkness can be a tactical advantage to gain cover or a better shooting angle. Your light can be a force multiplier, but beware accidental back lighting.

Just as the first rule of a gun fight is to have a gun, the first rule of a gunfight in low or no light is to have a light. A weapon mounted light is great, but should never be used as a search tool. Everywhere it points, so goes the muzzle.
