Sidestep Front Foot, Hook Punch Counter

We wait for the committed attack (in this case, a punch to the head). High block front hand sidestep front foot to the outside of the punch. Block with the palm of the hand (fingers together/thumb tucked). The hand can be "neutral" (added protection), or used to redirect/clear the punch out of the way. The footwork is the primary block, it is soft. Counter to the nose/temple/jaw, or ribs/solar plexus/groin.

We are breathing/rotating from the center. The weight shifts to the front foot on the punch. We exhale on our techniques, tensing at impact, driving several inches through the target, 98% extension, but never locking the joints. Everything begins and ends in the basic fighting stance. Adapt to your body, preference, situation. Make it your own.
