Transcript of an audio discussion with a JW elder over the telephone, I had obtained his telephone number from the Charities Commission website:
Audio of (Halifax) Jehovah’s Witnesses 236: Halifax Town Congregation.
7 minutes 7 seconds (Robert): “I went to an Anglican Church in Fowey occasionally, and um … um … about ten year ago I attended a Baptist Church in Plymouth, … briefly. Um, … would they be seen as Christendom?”
7 minutes 23 seconds (JW): “Yes … yes.”
7 minutes 25 seconds (Robert): “Including the head of the Anglican Church, would the head of the Anglican Church be a part of the infamous harlot?”
7 minutes 33 seconds (JW): “Um, …. Yea, as … I mean, as individuals, …. On a personal individual basis, um, … we …. We would take the position, we, we we’d speak on a one to one basis with, with anybody willing to listen, … on, … even if that included the head … do you mean the man or the woman as the head of the church?”
7 minutes 58 seconds (Robert): “The head of the Anglican Church, I’m not interested in any others, but I went to an Anglican Church in Fowey. Anglican is Church of England. Would, … would, would the head the Anglican Church, the office, OK … the office of the Anglican Church, be a part of this infamous harlot, of Christendom … as the chapter 33 seems to state.”
8 minutes 18 seconds (JW): “Yes, yes it would. I mean I won’t want to talk about the current um … Archbishop for instance.”
8 minutes 25 seconds (Robert): “No, no he’s not the current head of the Anglican Church, it’s Her Majesty the Queen. …. The Queen is the Head of the Anglican Church or the Church of England not the Archbishop of Canterbury. I find it, I find it a little insulating, that you know, that she is said to be a part of this harlot, I find that rather insulting to a dear lady. ….”
8 minutes 49 seconds (JW): “I don’t think you’ll find that in any of our publications.”
8 minutes 53 seconds (Robert): “Find what?”
8 minutes 54 seconds (JW): “It’s … Any reference to, any, any, any reference to Her Majesty.”
9 minutes 1 second (Robert): “No, but she’s the head of the Church of England, … or the Anglican Church.”
9 minutes 4 seconds (JW): “Well it isn’t her, it’s the institution that she’s head of then, if you want to look at it that way, … yea I wouldn’t like to personalise it down to individuals. Er … It’s the institution.”
9 minutes 20 seconds (Robert): “No, no I was referring to the office of the head of the Anglican Church, or the head of the Church of England. I wanted to know that the chapter 33 is titled judging the infamous harlot. Now you said that all of the Christian churches were a part of this harlot, so I wanted to know if the head of the Anglican Church was included, you said yes. Well the head of the Anglican Church is the Queen.”
Continued until 38 minutes and 47 seconds.
