Here is my unboxing and review video of the Hornby Gordon the Blue Engine steam locomotive that carries the number 4 from the Thomas and Friends range of OO gauge model trains that Hornby currently produce but after 2018. Hornby will not be making anymore of the Thomas and Friends range of model locomotives which is a shame. This version of the Gordon model locomotive is in the correct shade of blue although it is one of the post-2015 models that was released in 2016. Gordon is the Blue Engine that pulls the express train on the isle of sodor in the Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends TV series and is my favourite large steam locomotive because he does have a serious personality but he does like to help the other engines when they get themselves into trouble like Thomas and Percy did in some episodes from the first television series.
This model from Hornby is tender driven and it is DCC ready via the 8 pin decoder input. The model is a almost silent and a very smooth running although my test train I used for the test run was only two of Gordon's coaches because this is all I have at the present time. I will have a longer train for when I do a Thomas model train running session in December this year.
The packaging is the new blister type clear packaging and it does the job well of protecting the model train when it is not in use. I recommend getting this one before they are all gone because 2018 will be the final year for this model train sadly.
