Haydn completed this symphony in 1763 at the age of 31. This second movement of this symphony was partially taken from the finale of an early divertimento known as ‘Der Geburtstag’ (The Birthday).

This symphony is comprised of four movements:
I. Allegro molto
II. Andante
III. Menuetto e Trio
IV. Allegro
