.. Only titled this in the west, This is a russian animation that survived countless conflicts and wars over many decades where a copy finally arrived in the west, Given new life through english voice actors.. No real credit will ever be given to the faceless russian creators and voice actors of this film sadly, But we do know it was based on the Little Horse - Little Humpback), A 1947 Soviet/Russian traditionally animated feature film directed by Ivan Ivanov-Vano and produced by the Soyuzmultfilm studio in Moscow. The film is based on the poem by Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov, And in the 70's in the west this film was made into copies that became rare in existence by the 90's one of which i used to have (In the english dub).. But there was two changes made to the film thanks to the two dubs at least in script. Spoiler alert: In the english version at the end, The boy becomes a prince and walks off with the princess, The king survives his dive into the oil and becomes a wiser man, Alive.. But in the russian dub? Dude straight up dies. OHHHHHH!! This is something you have to watch the two dubs seperately to witness, With subtitles, But its exactly what happens. Old king so evil, Evil though he is, Is c o o k e d in the boiling oil he tried to get another person to jump into.Man tho's soviets sure hated the czars of old, They have rasputin to thank for that dang..
Online where this film now survives in a more stable format than.. Anything in old-time russia, Or Vhs has received well past 42,000 views thanks to the generosity of content creators and viewers like you.
1977 English dub voiced by Jim Backus
