Bhante Varapanno did me the honor of calling from his hut in Thailand to discuss the issue of Frankfurt-School-influenced cultural Marxism taking over Buddhism in the west, and also making inroads in the east. He was alarmed by a recent academic article in the Journal of Global Buddhism criticizing authentic traditional Buddhism and promoting what is essentially "Social Justice" with a little meditation (and lots of "inclusivity") thrown in.
