Just today, there are two more stories about the political tidal wave of Republican victories coming in the mid-term election on Nov. 8.
Although suppression polling has been skewing the polling numbers significantly over the past few months, in favor of Joe Biden’s party, that’s getting harder and harder to do is we race to the finish.
Pollster Michael McKenna was deputy director of the Office of Legislative Affairs in the Trump White House. That gave him a unique perspective at predicting the eventual winner of the horse race, instead of getting paid to influence the outcome. That’s the difference between a suppression poll and an honest weighing of the complexities going into predicting election outcomes.
McKenna wrote an overview of the current polling for the Daily Caller which was published today. Here are the brutal facts.
A recent NBC News poll of 1,000 registered voters asked each respondent for his or her first and second most important issue. 33% said the economy and an additional 33% said the “cost of living”. Neither of which a Democrat candidate will address at any time. When the same group was asked which party would do a better job fixing that problem, Republicans won out by a huge 56 to 20% margin – that’s 36 points!
On handling the crime issue, Republicans trumped the Dems by a 45-22%, margin – that’s a 33% spread. In fact, the only issue where the Dems trumped the GOP was on the abortion issue – one which the Dems have pretty much successfully mischaracterized as a nationwide abortion ban.
However, a Fox News survey found that on the inflation question, Republicans had a 49 to 40% advantage. According to McKenna:
“This pattern is similar across a range of public surveys, including Harvard-Harris, CNN and Pew.”
In a Politico/Morning Consult poll of 2,006 registered voters, 44% thought the economy was important, and 57% disapproved of the way Biden has handled it, and 56% disapproved of Biden’s handling of “security”, including border security. That’s between a 12 to 13% spread.
In the same Politico survey, 64% of registered voters said that we are in a recession now – at best a 30% spread. The exact same number came from a CNN survey, and in the NBC poll, 63% of families said they were falling behind.
Additionally, McKenna pointed out that all these polls were of “registered” voters, rather than “likely” voters. Just one of the dirty little secrets of the polling world is that “registered” voter polls always favor Democrats and are never as close to the final outcome as “likely” voters polling.
Lastly, McKenna addressed the “shy” voter problem. This election, it hasn’t gotten better, it’s gotten worse. Why? Because of the open hostility resident Biden has shown in the last few weeks towards Trump supporters, especially his Satan-themed address a couple of weeks ago when raged with clenched fists he went after MAGA Republicans.
According to McKenna:
“In the wake of the president’s recent remarks, it is very unlikely that each and every Republican feels comfortable self-identifying.”
To sum it up:
“… the corrosive concerns about the national economy, the deterioration of family economies, the general sense of ineptitude and decrepitude on the part of Team Biden, and the always-present voter preference for divided government — have reasserted themselves.”
“That’s bad news for the incumbent in this cycle.”
