Mystery #2: Optimization Vs. Progress
True Conservatives do not believe in "progress". Because a True Conservative's focus is on honoring the Forces of Family and Food, the notion of "progress" beyond them is impossible at best and suicidal at worst.
However a True Conservative does desire Stability, and accepts Optimization when possible. Remember that Optimization is defined as improving Stability and that Stability is the state of ensured survival. While a True Conservative will never accept that they can transcend the Forces of Family and Food, they will always adopt Optimization to living in accordance to the Forces of Family and Food.
This is why Tradition is not a True Conservative Principle in and of itself. Tradition can and should be disregarded by a True Conservative when Optimization of the Forces of Family and Food is possible and legitimate. Tradition is a True Conservative's placeholder until Optimization occurs. Other widely beneficial Principles like Liberty or Free Speech are also not intrinsic to True Conservatism, but can be argued instead as Optimizations to the Forces a True Conservative is bound to honor.
It is also necessary to dispell the notion that such Principles as "equality" could or should be viewed as Optimization. It should not have to be said that a mere Principle's assertion alone is not sufficient to accept as an Optimization. Practical application must also be a proven component, such as has been done with Liberty and Free Speech over time. There is in our modern day a progressive sentiment that the Free Market and Fuedalism are two-sides of the inequality coin because of the respective inequality both seem to generate. A True Conservative views these results as the natural Forces of Family and Food in action, and honestly doesn't give a damn that those Forces repeated a similar result at a different point in history.
