The is the full unedited bodycam video of the November 7, 2017 encounter between Glynn County police officers and Ahmaud Arbery. The Guardian released a selectively edited version today.
Police received a call about a suspicious vehicle parked on the grass in a park known for drug activity. When an officer approached, Arbery immediately exited the vehicle.
He claimed he was just rapping in the car.
Arbery's license had been suspended since May, with multiple failures to appear for mandatory court appearances. He claimed he hadn't been driving the car, though it was registered to his mother and he was the only person in the car and had the keys.
Arbery told the officer, “Nobody’s even driving the car, what the fuck you doin.” He becomes agitated and at one point appears to look at the officer’s taser and says “BITCH YOU HIT ME WITH THAT SHIT YOU GONNA BE FUCKED UP.”
The officer tells Arbery to turn around and put his hands on the car and Arbery replies “Why? I ain’t gotta do shit.”
A second officer arrives and attempts to tase Arbery but the taser malfunctions. Arbery is released and jogs away.
