I ask the question, whether the newly announced Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R is too heavy, looking some some comparable machines today and historically.
Despite the impressive performance compared to the Ninja ZX-25R, the one point that's been brought up frequently with this machine is whether the 188 kg wet weight - which is fully fueled to be fair - is too heavy.
Now the spec sheet can't tell us how this bike will carry that weight, however the argument has been made the new ZX-4R is heavy compared to the 250-4s of the 80s/90s.
That might be true, if their claimed figures are accurate, but we live in an age of pretty strict emission regulations which unfortunately also add weight to all machines - perhaps in part explaining why we haven't really seen enormous improvements in this arena - while new tech also plays a part.
