Hellfire responds and tells him what's going on. Mental launched a sneak attack on HQ. Team Charlie has been wiped out, everyone in command is dead, and Hellfire and the remaining soldiers are fighting a losing battle. She eventually gets killed by a Gnaar who informs Sam that the war is lost. Sam strengthens his resolve. As the last man on Earth, he swears to reach the Time-Lock and kill everything that stands in his way. He better hurry though because Mental's going to "moon" the planet.
