The news broke this past weekend that black NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace had found a noose in his garage at the Talladega Speedway. The story prompted an outpouring of outrage and solidarity from fans and drivers across the country. Some of us, however, doubted Bubba Wallace's story that he just happened to find a noose hanging in one of the most secure areas in sports.

Turns out, the "noose" wasn't actually a noose, but a garage door pull rope. Bubba Wallace had to have known that, yet still went with the story that he was the victim of a racist hate crime.

This begs the question: is Bubba Wallace the new Jussie Smollett?
