A classic, humorous, fantasy anime with fun characters. It's pretty long, but I highly recommend the OVAs and movies. Jump into the five seasons if you like those. It's fandom is still holding on, considering it's age.

The TV series matches her up with a full party of lovable misfits.
Both are great.
The OVAs feature one-shot adventures that are fun and creative.
The five seasons of the TV series feature longer adventures with intersting new characters mixed in.
Imaginative fantasy without the worst of modern fantasy anime's overused tropes.
... except that they fix every problem with Lina Inverse's signature spell, "Dragon Slave".
