While there's no shortage of advocates for a higher minimum wage, many are unaware that the Fair Labor and Standards Act of 1938 allowed for employees with disabilities to be exempt from the federal standard. In doing so, the U.S. government implicitly acknowledged that minimum wage laws destroy jobs, especially those filled by low skilled, uneducated persons.
